About this programme

With this doctoral program, the Tyrolean Private University UMIT TIROL has ventured into uncharted international territory. Doctoral candidates are provided with a network of research and practice, both nationally and internationally, to carry out their dissertations. The term "sports medicine" is understood in a very broad sense and includes, among other things, research projects in elite sports, recreational sports, and health-oriented sports. One focus of the dissertation offerings is on alpine and altitude medicine, including hypoxia research. The doctoral program is further complemented by research projects in health tourism and leisure sciences, which are conducted in collaboration with the University of Innsbruck, represented by Prof. Mike Peters from the Institute for Strategic Management, Marketing, and Tourism. Assoc.-Prof. Dr. Tobias Dünnwald Institut of Sports Medicine, Alpine Medicine and Health Tourism (ISAG) tobias.duennwald@umit-tirol.at
