About this programme

The aim of this master program is to provide mathematical foundations and state-of-the-art tools to be able to construct and simulate mathematical models for diverse fields in engineering , with a special focus on modern applications. The general aim of this programme is to encourage an open-minded and flexible approach to problem solving, enabling graduates to deal with problems that may differ significantly from those encountered during their studies. The curriculum is a joint Erasmus mundus master program involving five European universities : The Master's curriculum is designed to exploit the participating universities' respective fields of excellence in mathematical modelling. As such, it involves a considerable amount of mobility. Consequently, students will also acquire foreign language skills and gain an insight into diverse cultures and scientific environments across Europe. All details about the structure and content of the programme can be found in the curriculum , opens in new window (PDF) or in the list of courses , opens an external URL in a new window at TU Wien. In the first semester of the curriculum all students obtain mathematical foundations in functional analysis, dynamical systems, partial differential equations and modelling at Università degli Studi dell’Aquila ( Italy ). Afterwards, students can choose to go to TU Wien for semester 2 , which opens up possible specialisations in The admission to the master programme „Interdisciplinary Mathematics“ requires the completion of a thematically eligible bachelor's degree at an accredited national or i
