About this programme

Continuous progress in science and technology is increasingly dependent on computationally intensive computer simulations. Driven by the need to perform these simulations both accurately and rapidly, Computational Science and Engineering has emerged internationally as a distinct, interdisciplinary field of research. It integrates numerical mathematics and computer science with the natural sciences and engineering to enable efficient computer simulations across a wide range of applications - including civil engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, mechatronics, and physics - utilizing highly parallelized computer systems ranging from individual workstations to large-scale computing clusters and supercomputers. Full details about structure and content of the programme are available in the curriculum , opens in new window (PDF) and in the list of courses , opens an external URL in a new window in TISS. You can find a detailed description on the “Examination Subjects and Modules” page. To complement the courses in the compulsory subjects and core areas, 10 ECTS credits must be earned in the "Electives and Transferable Skills" module. Of these, at least 4.5 ECTS credits must be obtained from courses listed in the central elective catalogue for Transferable Skills. The following courses are recommended for completing the module “Free Electives and Transferable Skills”: Admission to the Master’s programme in ‘Computational Science and Engineering’ is possible after completing an eligible Bachelor’s degree at an accredited nati
