About this programme

Within the Faculty of Human Kinetics, there are Master of Science (Kinesiology & Health Studies) and Master of Sport Management & Leadership degrees, both of which offer a thesis option or an internship option. The internship option combines coursework with a practical work term placement designed to serve as an enrichment experience. The thesis option provides students with the opportunity to design and conduct a research project in their area of scholarly interest. The Master of Science (Kinesiology and Health Studies) focuses on the application of movement science in sport, physical activity, exercise, health, wellness, and the workplace. Students pursue course work and either thesis research, or an internship experience that examines the basic and applied principles of human biomechanics, ergonomics, motor behavior, sport and exercise psychology, or exercise physiology, health and wellness. The Master of Sport Management & Leadership (MSML) Internship focuses upon the understanding of the components of organizational behaviour in the context of amateur and professional sport environments. Students will pursue course work and a 360-hour internship that focuses on topics such as leadership, organizational effectiveness, sport marketing, organizational change, and philosophical, historical, and social issues of management. According to SportBusiness International’s Postgraduate Sports Course Rankings, our MSML program has ranked in the top 25 of university programs of its kind across the globe.
