Educational Assistant Certificate

About this programme

Educational Assistants are essential members of K-12 learning teams. They help students master reading and math skills, support learners with diverse needs, assist with behaviour strategies and create inclusive learning environments where every child feels seen and supported. You’ll apply everything you learn through two supervised practicums that help you develop confidence and workplace‑ready skills. Whether you’re just starting your career or already working in a school, this program helps you make a meaningful difference in students’ lives. The certificate will take different lengths of time depending on when you enroll and whether you choose full or part-time studies: Your certificate can also open doors to further studies at RDP. Many courses in the Educational Assistant program may be applied toward the Early Learning and Child Care Certificate or Diploma , and some may also be used within the Bachelor of Education program . Contact the Student Connect Centre to explore what pathway options might be available to you. Your practicum experiences are where everything you learn comes to life. As an Educational Assistant student, you’ll complete two practicums , stepping into real K-12 classrooms and supporting learners in ways that truly matter. You'll work one‑on‑one with students, guide small groups and help classrooms thrive all while connecting program content to real-world situations. These experiences build your confidence, your skills and your connection to school communities so you graduate ready to make an impact from day one.
