About this programme
We need water to live, grow food and produce energy. Most of Earth is covered in water, but less than 1% of it is freshwater. This scarcity along with growing environmental awareness, has created a strong demand for highly skilled and trained professionals in the field of water management. The NAIT Water and Wastewater Technician program — the only program of its kind in Alberta — offers a unique combination of theoretical and hands-on training. You will learn the fundamental skills in four key areas of the water and wastewater industry: water distribution, wastewater collection, water treatment, and wastewater treatment. As a graduate, you will meet the minimum training requirement for Alberta’s Water and Wastewater Provincial Level One Certification Exams, preparing you for a variety of careers in the field. This program is ideal for individuals interested in outdoor work, hands-on mechanical tasks, water testing, and quality analysis — all while providing essential services to communities. Start your application today! Many programs have limited availability, so applying early can improve your chances for admission. Get the information and support you need to make the decision that's right for you. At NAIT, we honour and acknowledge that the land on which we learn, work and live is Treaty Six territory. We seek to learn from history and the lessons that have come before us, and to draw on the wisdom of the First Peoples in Canada. Only through learning can we move forward in truth and reconciliation, and to a better future together. Read more
