About this programme

Planned outage: Beginning Nov. 1, you will not be able to access the USask admission application and event registration system for up to six days. Learn more . Designed for graduate students exploring infectious diseases across animal, human, and environmental systems, the Veterinary Microbiology graduate program at the University of Saskatchewan trains scientists needed to combat old and new health threats. Your discoveries will deepen understanding of virology, bacteriology, parasitology, immunology, and disease ecology. With support of dedicated faculty and a collaborative research environment, you will fight infectious disease threats to animal and human health. The Department of Veterinary Microbiology leads research that spans molecular mechanisms to population-level disease patterns. Tricouncil funded faculty investigate infectious disease questions in bacteriology, virology, parasitology, immunology, epidemiology, vaccinology, and diagnostics to advance understanding of microbes and reduce negative impacts on animals, people, and the environment. You must contact one of the Veterinary Microbiology faculty members with your curriculum vitae or resume and they must agree to supervise and financially support you throughout your program. Otherwise, we will not be able to consider your application. To that end, we recommend that you contact the faculty that are doing research in an area that interests you before beginning a formal application.
