About this programme

This combined program takes five years to complete and you graduate with two degrees. Your BFA - Art degree covers the subject you want to teach and the Education degree (BEd) consists of three professional semesters providing practical experience through supervised placements in schools. Studio courses introduce you to diverse materials and technical skills, and prepare you for a range of methods including: drawing, painting, photography, installation art, performance art, spatial practices, printmaking, video and media art, digital fabrication and electronic art. As a senior student , you have an individual studio space and one-on-one mentorship from an art studio professor as you develop your own art direction. Art History/Museum Studies courses help develop your critical thinking and writing skills, preparing you for professional practice as an artist and educator. The Bachelor of Fine Arts - Art combined with a Bachelor of Education are 5-year combined degrees with K-12 experience through the Faculty of Education. The Bachelor of Fine Arts - Art/Bachelor of Education stream offers a focused fine arts approach that allows you to build expertise in the art field and enables you to take the reins at any art education.
