About this programme

Nursing at UVic prepares you to make a real impact—on patients, communities and the future of health care. As Canada’s largest group of health professionals, nurses shape how care is delivered across hospitals, communities and public systems. At UVic, you’ll learn through hands-on practicum placements, supported by faculty and tested in a hospital-based clinical simulation centre, so you graduate ready for real-world practice. Gain real-world experience while you study. Practicums let you apply classroom learning in professional health settings such as hospitals, health authorities, government offices and non-profit organizations. Develop clinical judgment and problem-solving skills in a safe, supported environment. Using realistic patient simulations, you’ll practise responding to complex and unexpected care situations before entering clinical placements. UVic accepts transfer students from the nursing programs offered by Aurora College, Camosun College, College of the Rockies and Selkirk College. Study at one of these colleges for 2.5 years and apply to UVic for your final 1.5 years. As you progress through the program, your college will prepare you to meet our admission requirements and guide you through the process of transferring to UVic.
