About this programme

Learn how to design technologies that enhance health care and medicine. Expand your knowledge of engineering and human biology while gaining a better understanding of medicine and clinical practice. In this program, you’ll learn to analyze and solve real-world problems in medicine and biology—and create technologies that improve people’s lives. The Victoria Hand Project , founded by UVic engineers, creates accessible 3D-printed prosthetic hands for amputees. Working with partners around the world, VHP builds local 3D-printing centres, trains staff and supports community-based prosthetic care. Students play a major role in this work. Through co-op, volunteering and research, you can help design, build and deliver prosthetic technologies—gaining hands-on experience while contributing to a global social-impact project. Biomedical engineering student Adeline Theodora worked as an implementation specialist with Pani Energy, a Victoria-based company using AI to help water treatment plants reduce emissions, waste less water and operate more efficiently. Through co-op, she applied her coding and engineering skills to real-world sustainability challenges while building industry experience, communication skills and confidence as an international student. Apply to UVic as a high school student or a transfer student from another post-secondary institution. Choose your current or most recent high school, college or university to see your admission requirements. The recommended admission average is an estimate based on data from recent admission cycles.
