Sociology is the study of societies, patterns of social relationships and social interactions, and the culture that surrounds everyday life. McGill’s Sociology program offers you an intellectually rewarding and practically useful education. You will develop theoretical and analytical tools that help you to understand and communicate the complex social forces that affect our lives. Studying sociology is also personally enriching. It broadens your perspective, builds your understanding of social sustainability, and helps you become an engaged citizen. The skills you develop in this program will be applicable across all kinds of work in public and private sectors, like communications, management public policy, health and social work. It can also prepare you for advanced study in the social sciences, law, or education. Minors are a great way to customize your academic experience. Many students use minors to pursue interests outside their major, while others choose minors to complement their degree.
