Welder Foundation Certificate Program

About this programme

This 28-week program provides students with the experience and necessary skills to seek employment as an apprentice welder. The Welder Foundation program was developed to meet the needs of employers and other industry stakeholders and to prepare learners for entry level positions as apprentice welders in most sectors of the economy such as manufacturing, construction, transportation, resource extraction, and resource development. A welder is a person who has training in and is capable of welding ferrous and nonferrous metals in all positions on both plate and/or pipe using various welding processes. Practical instruction by demonstration and learner participation will be integrated with classroom sessions. Safe working practices will be integrated into the program and will be reinforced throughout the apprenticeship. Learners’ abilities will be evaluated through a combination of written examinations, practical assessments, and observations.
