About this programme

Get a post-graduate work permit for up to three years if you are a full-time UBC international student graduating from a bachelor’s degree program and meet all eligibility criteria . Discover an essential understanding of people within the context of health and healing in today’s society while you prepare for a professional licensure as a registered nurse. As a professional nurse, and a graduate of this program, you will be qualified to provide professional nursing services, deliver health-education programs, and provide consultative nursing services to promote, maintain, and restore patient health. The four-year Nursing program prepares you to meet the professional practice requirements identified by the licensing body. Admission is open to high school and university transfer students, and the program also offers access points for Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses. As a student in the Nursing program, you can get active in the community through School Initiatives. In your third-year coursework you can practise alongside community health nurses working with community groups, and in fourth year you can extend your education further afield with practicum placements. You can conduct research throughout your degree as you engage in service learning projects and/or change projects, and in your fourth year you will also have the opportunity to do a Research Preceptorship, where you will work directly with a researcher. Join the Nursing Course Union on UBC’s Okanagan campus to connect with your peers, get involved with student life, and explore career options.
