About this programme

The Court Transcription certificate provides students with the knowledge and skills to produce accurate transcripts by using machine shorthand and computer-aided transcription software and applying rules of grammar and punctuation to pre-recorded court proceedings. Graduates may be hired as court transcriptionists, scopists and proofreaders to aid in court transcript production. Graduates will also have opportunities to produce transcripts and verbatim captions in support of disciplinary proceedings, arbitration hearings, 9-1-1 calls, interviews, investigations, shareholders’ and other meetings and prerecorded television and Internet videos. Start your application today! Many programs have limited availability, so applying early can improve your chances for admission. Get the information and support you need to make the decision that's right for you. At NAIT, we honour and acknowledge that the land on which we learn, work and live is Treaty Six territory. We seek to learn from history and the lessons that have come before us, and to draw on the wisdom of the First Peoples in Canada. Only through learning can we move forward in truth and reconciliation, and to a better future together. Read more
