About this programme

The Master's Programme in Finnish Language at Åbo Akademi University deepens the student’s knowledge of grammar, semantics, and use of the Finnish language. Each student must take advanced 5 credit courses in Finnish grammar and the theory and methodology of linguistics. The student must also participate in a research seminar and write an M.A. thesis as well as pass a 10 credit exam that covers all obligatory areas of Finnish linguistics. In addition to the studies that are obligatory to all students of Finnish Language, each student is supposed to build his/her own expertise in Finnish Linguistics by taking 10 credits of optional courses that support his/her studies in the Finnish Language.
