About this programme

Get to know the FITech studies FITech is a network of Finnish universities of technology that offers a selection of university courses to study free of charge. Course topics include information technology, 5G technology, energy storages and other fields of technology. Courses are open and available for all Finns and permanent residents of Finland, everyone from high school students to adults in working life. FITech applicants are divided into degree students and adult learners. Degree students are students who are currently studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Finnish university or university of applied sciences. Students who have enrolled as absent are counted as degree students. Open university students are not degree students. Some courses have contact learning on campus but the offering also includes many online courses and MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) that can be studied independently on your own pace. Course level varies from beginner to advanced and teaching language can be either Finnish, English or Swedish. The rule for only one offer of admission per academic term applies only for degree studies, so accepting a study place for a FITech course doesn’t affect the application for degree studies. Degree students can transfer FITech credits to their own degree if the credits are included in personal study plan (HOPS) before applying. FITech member universities are Aalto University, LUT University, Tampere University, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, University of Oulu, University of Turku, University of Vaasa and Åbo Akademi University. The main goal for FITech is to guide experts to growth sectors in Finland and respond to competence needs arising in the field of technology.
