About this programme
Become an expert in science and technology Are you curious about how chemistry can be used to solve real-world challenges? Chemistry is central to many of today's global challenges, including sustainable energy production, climate change mitigation, advanced healthcare, and the development of next-generation materials. This programme equips students with the analytical, experimental, and quantitative skills necessary to contribute meaningfully to these fields. In this programme, you will study in an international environment and develop strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. The programme combines a solid theoretical foundation with practical learning through laboratory work, projects, and research-based teaching. This cross-disciplinary degree programme prepares you to follow rapid technological developments and address emerging challenges using scientific methods. Programme for curious problem-solvers Science and Engineering is an ideal programme for students who are curious about exploring natural phenomena and eager to understand the principles behind technological innovations. Experts in Science and Engineering play an important role in addressing global challenges such as climate change, developing more durable materials, and advancing medical technologies. We offer our students high-quality teaching in relatively small, multicultural study groups where teamwork is strongly supported. In addition to providing a sound theoretical basis for further studies in the field of technology, the programme places special emphasis on employability and integration. With this unique combination, our students are well-equipped with skills necessary for the international research and industrial environment. Flexibility and options for further studies The first-year mainly consists common core courses in Science and Engineering, providing you with a broad understanding of the field. You will begin focusing on Chemistry as well as choose a minor module during your second year. Throughout your studies, you will develop the technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills needed to tackle real-world challenges and create innovative, sustainable solutions. Studying at Tampere University gives you the flexibility to tailor your degree according to your interests. We also offer our students the possibility to do research training in one of our research groups. This is an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience while earning credits towards your degree. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree are eligible to continue directly to a master's degree at Tampere University without having to reapply. There are multiple options to choose from among the English-taught Master of Science (Tech) programmes offered by Tampere University.
