About this programme
Become an expert in science and technology Are you curious about how engineering physics can help solve real-world challenges? Physics provides the foundation for understanding the complex world around us and for developing the technologies of the future. Engineering physics combines fundamental science with practical engineering through modelling, computation, and experimental work. Beyond any single technology or application area, the programme develops highly transferable analytical skills that remain valuable as technologies evolve and societal challenges change. In this programme, you will study in an international environment and develop strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. The programme combines a solid theoretical foundation with practical learning through laboratory work, projects, and research-based teaching. This cross-disciplinary degree programme provides you with the ability to follow rapid technological developments by applying scientific methods. Programme for curious problem-solvers Science and Engineering is the ideal programme for you if you're curious about exploring various phenomena and eager to understand the principles behind technological innovations. Experts in engineering physics play a key role in e.g. addressing solutions to global challenges like climate change, developing more durable materials, and advancing medical technologies. We offer our students high-quality teaching in relatively small, multicultural study groups where teamwork is strongly supported. In addition to providing a sound theoretical basis for further studies in the field of technology, the programme places special emphasis on employability and integration. With this unique combination, our students are well-prepared for the international world of research and industry. Flexibility and options for further studies The first-year mostly consists common core courses in natural sciences and mathematics that give you a broad understanding of the field. The intermediate-level studies in physics completed during the second and the third year provide a solid foundation for Master's-level Advanced Studies in Engineering Physics. Throughout your studies, you will develop the technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills needed to tackle real-world challenges and create innovative, sustainable solutions. Studying at Tampere University gives you the flexibility to tailor your degree according to your interests. We also offer our second-year students the possibility to do research training in one of our research groups. This is an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience while earning credits towards your degree. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree are eligible to continue their studies directly towards a master's degree at Tampere University without having to re-apply.
