About this programme

Improve the world as an expert in computing sciences and electrical engineering Are you fascinated by technology and eager to shape the digital world of the future? The Bachelor’s Programme in Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering at Tampere University provides a strong foundation in information technology, electrical engineering, and computational data analysis, preparing you for a wide range of careers in technology. This cross-disciplinary degree programme provides you with a solid grounding in several core fields of engineering and the ability to follow rapid technological developments by applying scientific methods. The programme covers many of the fields driving technological innovation today. You can freely choose your specialization from three exciting study tracks: Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Computational Data Analysis. Through the three study tracks, you can develop expertise in areas such as machine learning, data analytics, signal processing, communications engineering, power engineering, electronics, and embedded systems, while building a strong foundation for future careers in technology. Digitalization creates opportunities Our modern society is fundamentally built on electricity and digital technologies. Information technology plays a major role in the digitalization of everyday life, with IT solutions being essential across all sectors. Electrical engineering powers and connects our world, while computational data analysis transforms data into valuable insights. Together, these fields drive innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, automation, smart technologies, and sustainable solutions. This creates a wide range of career opportunities for experts in the field. We offer our students high-quality teaching in relatively small, multicultural study groups where teamwork is strongly supported. In addition to providing a sound theoretical basis for further studies in the field of technology, the programme places special emphasis on employability and integration. With this unique combination, our students are well-prepared for the international world of research and industry. Flexibility and options for further studies The first year consists of common studies that give you a broad understanding of the field. At the beginning of your second year, you can freely choose your specialization from three study tracks: Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Computational Data Analysis. Throughout your studies, you will develop the technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills needed to tackle real-world challenges and create innovative, sustainable solutions. Studying at Tampere University gives you the flexibility to tailor your degree according to your interests. We also offer our second-year students the possibility to do research training in one of our research groups. This is an invaluable opportunity to gain hands-on experience while earning credits towards your degree. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree are eligible to continue their studies directly towards a master's degree at Tampere University without having to re-apply.
