Language and Literature - Modern Language and Literature Bachelor programme (BA/ BSc) Faculty of Letters CLUJ-NAPOCA Program description Ukrainian Language and Literature - Japanese Language and LiteratureThe specialization Ukrainian language and literature came into existence in 1999 with a view to support the Ukrainian minority in Romania (by supplying trained teachers for Ukrainian language schools) and those interested in the study of Slavic languages and cultures. Over the 15 years since the setting up of the specialization, a most favourable framework has been created with the purpose of training specialists in various fields; the main goal is to train up teachers, researchers in philology, translators, interpreters, reviewers, civil servants, councillors, employees in multinational corporations, members of the diplomatic corps, journalists, reporters. The curriculum includes theoretical courses such as: Ukrainian culture and literature, Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax as well as numerous practical courses: Conversation, Translation and Back Translation, Grammar Exercises, Essay Writing.The specialization can be combined with Japanese as a segment B language. The Japanese Language and Literature section is structured over six semesters and its aim is the study of Japanese language, literature and culture, offering both general knowledge and specialized knowledge. At the end of the three years of study, the students will have acquired the abilities needed for either postgraduate research, or a career in teaching, in the field of interpretation and translation, or in diplomacy.
