Language and Literature - Modern Language and Literature Bachelor programme (BA/ BSc) Faculty of Letters CLUJ-NAPOCA Program description Portuguese Language and Literature - English Language and LiteratureThe Portuguese Language and Literature BA showcases the Portuguese language a global language used by the different cultures and countries. . The study of literature is completed by optional courses in which one studies the relationship with music and cinema and the linguistic disciplines are doubled by practical courses to learn Portuguese and translation courses. The specialization can be combined with English as a segment B language. The mandatory courses follow the historical evolution of English and American literature (the Medieval and Renaissance English literature, the literature of the Enlightenment, the poetry of the 18th century and Romanticism, the literature of the Victorian Era, the English literature of the 20th century, contemporary English literature, American literature) and developing students’ knowledge of traditional linguistics (phonetics, lexicology, morphology, syntax, language history) and theoretical linguistics (formal semantics, generative grammar).
