Polymer Science and Engineering Bachelor programme (BA/ BSc) ”Cristofor Simionescu” Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection IAŞI Program description The Polymer Science and Engineering (PSE) is one of the most important programs in Chemical Engineering including both current trends and fundamental polymer studies. As expected in a continuously changing and challenging field as polymers the curriculum focuses on polymer innovations and applications of research in science, technology, engineering and medicine. The PSE program aims at offering to students a broad range of technical competences, from the use of methods, concepts and theories in analyzing chemical compounds of natural and synthetic origin, up to design and monitoring of processes and installations for thermoplastic and thermoreactive polymers synthesis as well as for polymer processing. Polymer engineers may work in areas that include the development of new polymers/biopolymers, equipment design for polymer synthesis and processing, project engineering and process management, paints and organic coatings industry, cosmetics, foods, automotive industry, printing houses, research institutes and in chemical and biochemical laboratories. Assembling and managing a laboratory, evaluating products, coordinating studies, designing new materials and optimizing processes are all common facets of a polymer engineer's job.
