About this programme
No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders and exchange students. No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders and exchange students. The course provides an overview of pragmatic theories, theories of meaning and communication that go beyond semantics, and their relation to related scientific fields. The course covers the history of pragmatics, basic concepts and theories, their applications, and pragmatic analysis practice. Selected areas of Pragmatics and theories are presented in more detail than in the corresponding course at the undergraduate level. Furthermore, the course aims to provide skills in pragmatic analysis of language use based on authentic language examples (written and spoken). Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits. The Faculty of Humanities is located in the Humanisten building at Renströmsgatan 6. The Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science has its premises on the 5th floor. Both the Faculty of Humanities and the adjacent Humanities Library offer several study areas and group rooms. There are also opportunities to study abroad for students on freestanding courses. Within the humanities, you can choose to go on an educational student exchange. The course is mainly taught by means of lectures, seminars, workshops and project work (or equivalent).
