About this programme
No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders and exchange students. This course is open to Exchange students at the Faculty of Humanities and exchange students on a university-wide agreement. Please contact your international coordinator at the University of Gothenburg if you need to know more. The continuation course in linguistics involves an in-depth study of the subject of linguistics and builds on the introduction provided during the first semester. The course provides more in-depth knowledge of the study of language, and enables a nuanced understanding of human language as a system of communication. Courses included in the continuation course comprise semantics, pragmatics, linguistic methodology, and syntax. These courses further develop the study of linguistic theories and approaches, with a focus on language use, formalizations, and the relation between them. Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits. The Faculty of Humanities is located in the Humanisten building at Renströmsgatan 6. The Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science has its premises on the 5th floor. Both the Faculty of Humanities and the adjacent Humanities Library offer several study areas and group rooms.
