About this programme
No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders and exchange students. Discover the foundation of all mathematics — and the ideas that changed how we think about infinity! This course takes you on a journey through naive set theory, the core framework behind modern mathematics. You’ll explore how simple concepts like “sets” can explain everything from arithmetic to advanced analysis — and how they reveal the true nature of infinity. Along the way, you’ll dive into the philosophical roots and historical breakthroughs that shaped mathematical thought, and tackle famous logical puzzles such as Russell’s paradox. By the end, you’ll see mathematics from a whole new perspective — not just as numbers and equations, but as a beautifully structured system built on pure logic and imagination. Successful completion of at least 7.5 credits in logic or mathematics, or the equivalent. Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits. The course is mainly taught by means of lectures, seminars, workshops and project work (or equivalent).
