About this programme

No fees are charged for EU and EEA citizens, Swedish residence permit holders and exchange students. The core of the course are several projects in different areas of mathematical statistics and its applications (e.g., finance, bioinformatics). Each project contains a number of problems to be solved in a given programming language, e.g., Matlab, Python, and R. The projects are presented at lectures and programming languages are introduced during teacher led laboratories. The project reports are to be written in LaTeX. Knowledge equivalent to an introductory course in probability theory and basic mathematical statistics is required. Prior experience of using a high-level programming language for technical or scientific computation is also required. All eligible applicants who have applied before the deadline will be granted a place. Mathematical Sciences is a joint department of Chalmers/University of Gothenburg. Your education takes place in the spacious and bright premises of Mathematical Sciences at the Chalmers campus Johanneberg, where there are lecture halls, computer rooms and group rooms. Here you can also find student lunch room and reading room, as well as student counsellors and student office.
