About this programme
Knowledge in materials science and physics forms the foundation for innovations across many fields. Today's challenges in transforming society from fossil-based to green energy place significant demands on developing materials, techniques and processes – you can help drive this transition. The master’s programme in engineering physics offers broad knowledge of the role of physics in society combined with cutting-edge knowledge in sustainable materials for various energy applications, nanotechnology, and mechanics simulations. The programme courses alternate between theory and practice. Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, seminars, projects and laboratory work in our well-equipped Materials and Innovation Laboratory Milab. The teachers you will meet in the programme are active researchers in materials science, mechanics and physics. The programme offers you the opportunity to position yourself as an experimentalist as well as a theoretician, covering anything from nanomaterials fabrication and characterization to simulations and theory. Each semester comprises two study periods, during which you typically take two parallel courses. Many courses include laboratory exercises or computer simulations. Each course offers three annual examination opportunities. Throughout the programme, you will attend joint classes with master's level engineering physics students. The programme concludes with a 30 ECTS degree project in which you work independently under the supervision of one of our scientists. You can undertake your project in one of the Department’s research field
