Through design projects and analytical work, you will develop the ability to address the complex spatial, social, and ecological conditions of cities within the design process. Urban Landscape Design is a course that explores the role and potential of landscape architecture in urban environments. The course focuses on how urban landscapes can be analysed, interpreted, and designed with consideration for density, functional requirements, social needs, and ecological processes. Through design projects, you will develop the ability to engage with the complexity of urban environments across different scales. The course is based on real urban sites where you will work with site analysis, programme development, and the creation of design proposals. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between public spaces, green infrastructure, mobility, and urban life. You will also be introduced to current theories and discussions within urban landscape architecture, sustainable urban development, and the public realm.
