About this programme
It aims to go beyond the commonplace describing the recent revolutions as exceptions in the history of the region. At the same time, it aims to show how a range of different events were labelled “revolutions” by different actors and how such a label is a marker of a discursive tradition. A parallel look at Arabic terms and frames will enable a critical look at those constructs. Instruction is given in the form of lectures and seminars. The language of instruction is English. Attendance at all teaching sessions is obligatory. Course details, lesson planning and other information for Spring semester 2025 can be found in the learning platform Athena. Please note that only registred students have access to downloadable resources, like PDF documents, in Athena. The course is examined on the basis of written assignments in the form of essay assignments. The language of examination is English.
