About this programme
If you have been accepted to the course, then you will receive more information concerning registration in August. The course starts week 36. The course deals with multilingualism within the family, viewed from the perspective of research on family language policy. Based on the research, various aspects and studies dealing with family language policy in the countries of the Baltic Sea region are highlighted. Special focus is placed on studies on multilingual families where a Baltic language is spoken. The course also provides a comparative perspective that takes into account the role of the surrounding society and the directives of the authorities. The course is useful for professionals as well as policymakers, teachers, journalists and civil servants in the public sector, as well as for private individuals such as parents and people who speak a heritage language. The course is examined through two written assignments and two oral presentations in a seminar. The principles for weighing the individual examination assignments are stated in the grading criteria.
