About this programme
Biodiversity is declining with an alarming rate. Many wild populations are today decling in size and geographic distribution and are threatened to go extinct. This course focus on the processes influencing the dynamics in small populations and the potential drivers of extinction. This course will provide you with a theoretical overview of the processes driving the dynamics in small and declining populations, such as population growth, connectivity, demographic stochasticity, as well as genetics and fitness in small populations. You will also learn practical tools of conservation relevance through population models and analyses of genetic data. The course consists of lectures and seminars, as well as practical exercises to understand the dynamics in small and threatened populations. The course will be examined through a written exam as well as participation in seminars and exercises. To follow your passion. To be close to international career opportunities. To explore city and countryside. In Stockholm you can really get the best of both worlds. Here we explain all the different steps you need to go through when applying to a course or programme. Stockholm University arranges regular webinars and participates in educational fairs and events virtually and around the world to meet students and inform them about our study programmes. Every year Stockholm University welcomes thousands of international students from all over the world. Each bringing their own backpack full of experiences, expectations and dreams.
