About this programme
Journalism has historically held an influential position in society, as journalistic decisions regarding perspectives, sources, and framing have shaped the boundaries of public discourse. The course emphasizes how journalistic constructions of reality have evolved in tandem with technological advancements and how the concept of “news” has become increasingly complex and challenging to define in the digital media landscape. For a passing course grade, the student must be able to: -account for relevant theory building and research on journalism's constructions of reality -critically and systematically analyze journalistic representations and frames and their societal, political and social meanings. Teaching consists of lectures and seminars. Course requirements: seminars are mandatory elements of the course. The teaching takes place in English. Students and researchers come here literally from all over the world and contribute with both knowledge and diversity. From the undergraduate courses to the doctoral programs there are international students. Many of our courses are therefore also given in English. Researchers, Guest Professors and teachers come here because of the Department's qualities and contribute in keeping our education at a high level. It is with us that you can find a unique opportunity to study exactly what you want to immerse yourself in. Our four subjects Cinema Studies, Journalism, Media and Communication Studies and Fashion Studies you will probably not find gathered in one department anywhere else.
