About this programme
This course offers the opportunity to develop practical skills in state-of-the-art laboratory techniques used in biogeochemistry and atmospheric science. You will get an introduction into the fundamentals of good laboratory practice and into different analytical methods such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, photo/fluorometric tools, and laser tools. You will perform own experiments and analyses using soil, water, sediment or atmospheric samples; you will learn how to process the data you generate and ensure the quality of your results. The course includes several practical blocks where you perform experiments and analyses in the laboratory. The topics of practical blocks vary between years. In past years, practical work included for instance experiments on the production of sea spray aerosols, incubations of soils and sediments to quantify greenhouse gas production under different conditions, and the comparison of mercury in different chemical forms in biota. Teaching consists of lectures, workshops, and laboratory sessions. The course is offered in English. The course is examined through written reports and active participation in seminars and practical laboratory work. To follow your passion. To be close to international career opportunities. To explore city and countryside. In Stockholm you can really get the best of both worlds. Here we explain all the different steps you need to go through when applying to a course or programme. Stockholm University arranges regular webinars and participates in educational fairs and events virtually and around the world
