About this programme

Gain a thorough grounding in Computer Science, while equipping yourself with the practical skills for a career in computing and AI. AI is one of the most rapidly evolving aspects of modern technology, revolutionising how we live and work. Our four-year Computer Science MSci, with its specialism in AI, will put you at the forefront of these changes. Build knowledge in machine learning, intelligent agents, and neural networks while exploring software engineering, cybersecurity, and computational finance. Discover first-hand the impact of our research, for example as we apply state-of-the-art algorithms to automate plant classification at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew or in developing human disease diagnostics. Choose from a wide variety of modules in machine learning, deep learning, multi-agent systems, and the large-scale data storage and processing technologies that support prediction and other forms of ‘intelligence’. Explore an AI-related topic of your choice for your final-year project. You’ll have a personal adviser to discuss your plans with throughout your degree. You can also opt to include a year in industry. When you graduate, you’ll be well-placed for further postgraduate study or a high-level career in a broad range of sectors with a huge demand for skills in these new technologies. We sometimes make changes to our courses to improve your experience. If this happens, we’ll let you know as soon as possible. This module teaches programming and object-orientation concepts. Students will learn about program basics (variables, types, scope, lifetimes), control flow
