About this programme

Every organisation now runs on digital systems, and every one of them is a target. Cyber security is the work of keeping those systems, and the people and data behind them, safe. It’s become one of the most sought-after and best-paid parts of the technology industry, and this FdSc Cyber Security is a quick, practical way in. Over two years you’ll start with the foundations, learning how computers, operating systems and networks work, then move into security itself: assessing risk, setting up and hardening networks and servers, investigating breaches with digital forensics, and analysing live cyber threats. You’ll spend your time in real labs with real kit, learning both how to take a system apart to understand it and how to defend it when it counts. You’ll finish with a recognised UWE qualification and be ready to take a security job or carry on to the full BSc (Hons). You’ll study close to home in small, supportive classes at University Centre Weston, and the qualification you earn is awarded by the University of the West of England, Bristol. You get both things at once: a community that knows you and a degree that carries real weight. We review the programme and its modules regularly and may update them to keep up with the industry.
