About this programme
Our world faces immense challenges. We need people with the skills to respond. Anthropology explores big questions about humanity. In Anthropology at Oxford Brookes, you’ll study everything from our evolutionary origins and early human societies, to cultural, religious, and ritual practices. You’ll explore diverse experiences of politics, economy, conservation and migration, alongside contemporary questions about AI and relationships between global tech platforms, power, inequality, and changing forms of human intimacy. We teach anthropology as a holistic discipline , bringing together social, cultural, biological, archaeological, and applied approaches. You'll learn to think across boundaries, drawing on different kinds of evidence to understand the complexity of human life. You’ll develop skills spanning lab analysis, forensic investigation, archaeological excavation, and primate behaviour; to social inquiry, ethnography, participatory methods, and the complexities of cross-cultural research. A unique opportunity to study sciences and/or social sciences in a single degree. Build your own program or choose a social, biological or combined pathway. From integrated residential and one-day field trips to opportunities for overseas study, you have many exciting possibilities with this degree. You’ll be taught by academics actively engaged in fieldwork from archaeological investigations and palaeopathology to wildlife conservation, research with labour migrants and humanitarian work.
