About this programme

We will be moving all teaching from Harcourt Hill to our Headington Campus for the start of the 2025/26 academic year Early Childhood Studies looks at strategies to nurture inclusivity and considers how creative and therapeutic approaches can provide support for children and their families. Our BA Early Childhood Studies with a Foundation Year in Humanities starts by equipping you with essential skills such as research, evaluation and communication. Passing this foundation year leads to our BA Early Childhood Studies programme. You may want to work with children directly, or you might be keen to advocate for the next generation who are growing up in an uncertain world. Our experienced team will help you look at a range of topics such as children’s emotional health, trauma-informed and relational practices. We put a real focus on social justice and equality. From day 1, you’ll start thinking about what impact these areas have on children – and your own life. You’ll complete a placement each year, and participate in simulated scenarios to develop confidence in your practice. This experience can help you secure interviews after graduating. We work with the Early Childhood Studies Degree Network to help you get practical experience supporting children. Our course focuses on social justice and inclusivity to help you make a real difference to the lives of children, families and communities. Build essential study skills with an integrated foundation year. Gain academic confidence, improve critical thinking, and strengthen subject knowledge for your degree journey.
