About this programme
Animal Behaviour Code C12F Applicant Visiting Days Applicant Visiting Days --> Attend an Open Day Attend an Open Day Open Days - Register Now Open Days - Register Now --> Apply Now Scholarships and Bursaries worth over £15,000 – apply now --> Accepting late applications Apply now --> Animal behaviourists use scientific methods to understand how and why animals behave in the ways that they do, helping to improve animal welfare, support conservation efforts, and deepen our knowledge of the natural world. On the BSc Animal Behaviour degree at Aberystwyth University, you'll build a solid foundation of transferable scientific skills, recognised through accreditiation by the Royal Society of Biology. Drawing on these skills, you will explore the mechanisms, development, function, and evolution of behaviour across a wide range of wild, captive and domesticated animal species. Throughout the course, you'll develop advanced research expertise in animal behaviour and undertake your own independent research project. You’ll also develop the skills to care for animals in captivity. Set within the stunning landscapes of West Wales – home to a rich variety of charismatic animal life – the course also benefits from links with our Veterinary Education Centre, providing insight into the study of captive animals in professional settings. You may also choose to take part in a residential field course further afield, giving you the chance to more intensively investigate animal behaviour in wild or captive environments, and gain valuable hands-on experience.
