Develop skills towards a career in the applied biochemistry and biotechnology industries. Develop a deep understanding of Biochemistry on this four-year course, where you will acquire the key scientific skills required for a range of research informed graduate careers in the Life Sciences.informed graduate careers in the Life Sciences. You will study living systems at the molecular and cellular level and gain an understanding of the chemical processes within organisms. Through this work, you will develop a detailed knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of life and how these underpin solutions to key biological and biomedical problems. Your studies will be complemented by a dedicated Life Sciences skills programme, providing training in quantitative skills, programming, statistics, and scientific writing and presentation. In Year 3 of the degree, you can specialise in areas including immunology and infection, systems biology, cancer, metabolic engineering, structural biology and drug design, cellular biophysics, and neuroscience. Laboratory and computational practical work will help you develop the skills to design and carry out biochemical experiments and analyse the resulting data. With access to Imperial’s thriving research environment, you will be taught by worldleading researchers as you learn how to solve complex realworld problems.
