About this programme
UCAS Course Code: B940 - This course is validated by the University of East Anglia (UEA). Develop your personal and professional integrity as a BA (Hons) Counselling student, whilst promoting sound ethical practice. This course provides a strong foundation in counselling theory and practice, supporting your development towards professional counselling work and individual BACP accreditation. Rooted in humanistic approaches, you will also explore models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis. Through a combination of theory, practical skills and professional development, you will develop your own counselling style while building the knowledge and experience needed to support the emotional and psychological wellbeing of others. Practice learning is a key part of the course. You will complete 30 hours of personal therapy and, in Years 2 and 3, a minimum of 100 hours of counselling practice with clients. Experienced tutors and a dedicated Practice Learning team will support you throughout your studies and placements. On successful completion, you will be prepared for counselling roles in settings such as counselling agencies, charities, hospices, healthcare services and educational institutions, or to work as an independent therapist. For any international qualifications not identified above the HE Admission Team will determine equivalences through UKENIC. Ideally, you will have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent). If not, please contact our Admissions Team to discuss your options
