About this programme

Our Medical Sciences BSc is for students interested in human health, disease and the science behind medicine. Accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB), it provides a strong foundation in the pre-clinical knowledge needed for graduate-entry medicine and prepares you for careers across the life sciences. You'll study the human body in health and disease, with a focus on disease states, their diagnosis and the biological mechanisms involved. The course explores how the body functions in health and how these processes are affected by disease, giving you a strong foundation in medical sciences. As you progress, you'll deepen your understanding of key areas of medical science through practical and theoretical study. Hands-on laboratory work helps you apply scientific concepts and strengthen your understanding of scientific investigation and evidence. After graduation, and subject to entry requirements, you can apply for graduate-entry medicine programmes in the UK or abroad. The degree also prepares you for a range of careers across the life sciences, giving you flexibility to pursue different opportunities if you decide not to continue into medicine. We have progression agreements that could open up additional routes into medical education after you graduate, subject to meeting each institution's entry requirements. Through our agreement with Global University Systems (GUS), you may be able to apply for a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) at one of three Caribbean medical schools:
