Complete Bangladesh Application Guide for International Students

1. What Is a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)?

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document issued by Bangladesh Police confirming the result of a police record check for an individual within the relevant jurisdiction.

It is commonly requested for:

Student visa applications.

Residence permit applications.

Employment abroad.

Immigration and migration procedures.

Permanent residence applications.

Other official purposes requested by a foreign authority.

A PCC is generally used to demonstrate that the applicant has no disqualifying criminal record identified through the relevant police verification process.

Important: A PCC does not guarantee visa approval. The receiving embassy, immigration authority or institution decides whether the certificate meets its requirements.

The Bangladesh Police online PCC system serves:

Bangladeshi citizens applying for a PCC for overseas purposes.

Bangladeshi citizens living abroad who need a PCC from Bangladesh.

Foreign nationals who previously lived in Bangladesh and need a Bangladesh PCC for an eligible purpose.

The correct application route depends on the applicant's nationality, passport, present location and purpose.

For a Bangladeshi student applying for a foreign student visa, the usual route is the Bangladesh Police online PCC portal.
