Studying in South Korea: the essentials

01Intakes and Application Periods

For example, Seoul National University offers international admissions for both the spring and fall semesters, and its academic year begins in spring.

02Tuition Fees and Scholarships

Fees are set by each university and subject. For example, Pusan National University's Graduate School of International Studies lists a first-semester master's payment of KRW 2,948,000 for Fall 2026, including the admission fee.

03Working While Studying

Study in Korea sets a basic limit of 25 hours a week on weekdays for undergraduate students who meet the Korean-language requirement, with no restriction at weekends and during vacations. Students who do not meet the language requirement are limited to 10 hours.

An extended tier allows 30 hours a week for undergraduates and 35 for graduate students, but the unlimited allowance during vacations does not apply to it. A work permit from the immigration office is required.

04Living Costs and Proof of Funds

The Korean Embassy in Bangladesh asks D-2 applicants for proof that they or a guarantor can cover study and living costs, including a bank statement for the last six months and an income tax return certificate. It does not state a minimum amount.
