About this programme
The Bachelor's Programme “Informatik” (hereafter: Informatics) focuses on the processing, analysis, and use of data, as well as the development of software and computer systems. It is about the technology and expertise behind computer programs and applications. The content of the programme is applied in almost every area of life, as computers are used virtually everywhere today. The Bachelor’s programme helps you understand and shape our increasingly digital world. Informatics also contributes to making our society safer. Special topics in the programme include programming, databases, networks, algorithms, and software engineering, with a strong emphasis on mathematical and theoretical foundations. Afterwards, you have the option to choose from seven specialisations, but it is also possible to attend courses and modules from different specialisations. This allows you to tailor your studies according to your interests. At TU Wien, we want everyone interested in computer science to have the opportunity to study with us, regardless of their educational background. For this reason, the selection procedure does not assess programming skills and does not require any prior experience with computers. Instead, it evaluates your ability to solve problems, think logically, and comprehend texts. The selection procedure takes place only once a year, regardless of whether you plan to start in the winter or summer semester. If you pass the selection procedure, you can complete your admission until the end of the general admission deadline for the winter or summer semester. You must provi
