About this programme
The Bachelor's programme “Maschinenbau” (hereafter: Mechanical Engineering) focuses on providing fundamental engineering, scientific, mathematical, and information technology methods. You acquire a solid foundation in mathematics, mechanics, engineering design, materials science, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and manufacturing technology – supported by practical laboratories, exercises, group work, and small projects. The programme is broad, scientifically rigorous, and methodologically sound, with the goal of imparting lasting knowledge. It prepares students both for further Master’s studies and for direct entry into technical and economically related careers. There is no selection procedure for the Bachelor's Programme in Mechanical Engineering. Instead, before being admitted, you must engage with the contents of the programme as part of the so-called Study Preparation and Reflection Phase (Programme-PRe-Phase). The Bachelor's Program in Mechanical Engineering requires an interest in technology and mathematics. Programming or technical drawing skills are not required. In the programme, you will learn everything you need for a career in mechanical engineering. However, good mathematical skills are an advantage: a large part of a mechanical engineer’s work involves describing and analyzing problems. You will not only develop new solutions but also improve existing ones. It is therefore important to be willing to learn a lot and not give up when an attempt to solve a problem fails.
