Pharmacy technicians play a critical role in today’s healthcare system. The Pharmacy Technician Diploma prepares you for a regulated professional role where you'll work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in diverse settings, from hospitals to community pharmacies. Throughout the program, you’ll build a strong foundation in pharmacy practice and medication safety, including: Learning is designed to reflect real pharmacy environments and prepare you for professional practice. You will learn in simulation labs that replicate real work environments. Outside the classroom, you will benefit from partnerships that guarantee you receive enhanced practicum and learning experiences , which makes our graduates highly sought after by employers. As part of the Pharmacy Technician Diploma, you participate in a 160-hour community pharmacy practicum placement and a 200-hours hospital pharmacy practicum placement. Graduates of the Pharmacy Technician Diploma are eligible to pursue registration as a pharmacy technician in Alberta. In addition to completing the diploma, registration requires completion of external licensing and assessment requirements set by regulatory bodies. Additional fees and timelines apply for these requirements. Students are encouraged to review current information through the relevant regulatory organizations.
