About this programme

In RDP’s Legal Assistant Diploma, you’ll develop the practical skills, legal knowledge and professionalism needed to support lawyers, clients and the justice system. From your first semester, you’ll start building confidence in drafting legal documents, managing case files, communicating with clients and using digital tools that modern law offices rely on. You’ll learn across key areas of Canadian law including family, criminal, real estate, estates, corporate, commercial, and civil litigation. A 5-week practicum caps off your training, giving you hands-on experience in a real legal workplace. This program can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on your capacity and career goals. Connect with our Student Connect Centre to learn more. After completing your coursework, you’ll take on a 5‑week, 175‑hour practicum , applying what you’ve learned in a real legal environment. Past students have worked in law firms, courthouses, corporate legal departments, justice agencies, or real estate practices. Your diploma doesn't have to stand on its own. Ladder you knowledge into further study at RDP! There may be options to transfer your credits towards other institutions Bachelor degrees as well, such as Athabasca University.
