About this programme
Yukon University, in partnership with the Canadian and Yukon Governments, is proud to deliver the Older Workers Program. This innovative 13-week program aims to support participants to identify and seek suitable employment, undertake further training or education and/or improve wellbeing. NOTE: There is no tuition fee for this program and a student stipend is provided. Step 1: Complete an application form (found at www.yukonu.ca/older-workers-program). Completed application forms can be sent by email to tiow@yukonu.ca , dropped off at the Continuing Education Office (C1310), or texted to 867 332 7079. We recommend that applications for the Fall semester (September – December) should be submitted by mid-August. Applications for the Winter semester (January – April) should be submitted by early December. No. We always receive more applications than we have spaces in the program. After interviewing all applicants, students are selected based on their motivation, need, suitability and readiness. Because the program is group-based and curriculum progresses from week to week, students are expected to participate in all parts of the program. Not necessarily. You may also be eligible if you’re under-employed: working part-time or seasonal, fewer hours or weeks than you want or need. We encourage you to still apply. Students should come prepared to participate fully in an active group learning environment.
