About this programme
The Occupational & Physical Therapist Assistant (OPTA) Diploma puts you at the heart of health care. You'll learn to make a difference in people's lives by helping them rebuild strength, mobility and confidence. In just two years, you’ll learn how to support therapists in creating personalized plans that help clients live fuller, more independent lives. Your learning starts with the big picture: how health care works and where rehabilitation fits in. Then you’ll dive into the science of movement, exploring muscles, bones and how injuries or illness affect daily life. You’ll also build strategies for mental health and communication. Hands-on training is a key part of the program . Throughout the program, you’ll complete three full-time practicum placements , giving you the opportunity to apply your skills in real healthcare settings while learning from experienced professionals. Each placement is five weeks and allows you to build confidence working with clients, adapt to different practice environments and understand the day-to-day responsibilities of rehabilitation support roles. These hands-on experiences help bridge classroom learning with workplace expectations and prepare you for entry into the field. These experiences build confidence and prepare you for careers in hospitals, rehab centers, long-term care and community programs. This program is accredited by the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant Education Accreditation Program (OTA & PTA EAP) in collaboration with Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC) and the Canadian As
