About this programme
Build practical skills for a meaningful career supporting individuals, families, and communities. This 26-week diploma is delivered through live, instructor-led evening classes and includes a 100-hour practicum. Because this program can be completed in six months or less, eligible students may study without a Canadian study permit. This includes Canadian citizens and permanent residents, as well as eligible visitors, work permit holders, international students and refugee claimants who are legally authorized to remain in Canada for the entire program. Under Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada requirements, a study permit is generally not required when the program is six months or less, is not part of a longer program, and can be completed within the period authorized for the individual to remain in Canada. Each applicant is responsible for confirming their eligibility and maintaining valid immigration status. Review the official IRCC requirements. ⚠️ Important: This program is not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Studying without a study permit does not provide authorization to work in Canada. The Social Service and Community Support Worker Diploma prepares students to support individuals, families and communities experiencing mental health, addiction, disability and other social challenges. Students develop practical skills in supportive communication, crisis intervention, case management, professional documentation, life-skills support and community-resource coordination.
